Quilt Inspiration: The Ultimate Stash & Fat Quarter Showcase
Lockport is a fast, delightful project designed to celebrate your most beautiful fabrics. Whether you’ve created a specific Fat Quarter bundle or have a stash of "must-use" treasures, this quilt brings them to life in a vibrant, geometric display. It’s the perfect project for those who want a high-impact finish without a long, drawn-out construction process.
Project Focus: Works with Batiks or Medium & Large-Scale Prints
Have you been wondering how to use those stunning medium and large-scale prints? Lockport is the answer. This design provides the perfect "real estate" to showcase larger patterns without cutting them into tiny, unrecognizable pieces.
We’ll show you how to maximize every Fat Quarter by featuring each fabric in three distinct ways:
- The Center Square of a Large Square³ Block.
- The Round 3 Side Triangles of a different Large Square³ Block.
-
Multiple Square-in-Square Units throughout the sashing and cornerstones.
Techniques You Will Master
Lockport focuses on the Square-in-Square and Square³ techniques, teaching you how to achieve perfectly pointed squares within squares every single time.
- Triple Square-in-Square Sashing: Create intricate-looking sashing that frames your blocks beautifully.
- Square-in-Square Cornerstones: Master the alignment of small-scale precision units.
- Essential Studio 180 Design Tools: The blocks and sashing are constructed with total accuracy using:
- Large Square Squared™ (The star of this course!)
- Square Squared™ (Optional, for the smaller units)
- All three quilt sizes are Fat Quarter friendly!
While Lockport is a fantastic stash-buster, remember never be afraid to treat yourself to a brand-new bundle for this project!
THREE SIZE OPTIONS: THROW (“66” x 66”), LARGE THROW (82” x 82”) or Double (82” x 98”)
